Each autumn, The Studio of Young Artists' Association invites membership applications from artists, art historians, curators and critics under the age of 35.

Application conditions for artists:

Filled out application sheet

Professional CV, including exhibitions, studies, grants/scholarships and publications

Cover letter. The letter should include the following motivations: why you would like to become a member, what you expect the association to help you with in your career, how you could help the association, what your future plans are regarding your membership

Portfolio. Captions should include short descriptions of the works (if required by the work), title, year of creation, technique. For video works, send us a link too (e.g. Youtube, Vimeo, your own website, Google Drive)

Application conditions for curators:

Filled out application sheet

Professional CV, including exhibitions, studies, grants/scholarships and publications

Cover letter. The letter should include specific areas of research, how these could enrich the activities of the association, vision your activities within the association, 1-3 plans for the duration of your membership

Portfolio. Include some published writings or visual and text documentation of previous curatorial or art management projects

A degree in fine arts and Hungarian citizenship are not required to apply. On the basis of the applications submitted, the 12-member board of SYAA will decide on the acceptance of new applicants.

We offer our members the following opportunities:

Exhibition opportunities in the Studio Gallery: we organise our annual exhibition programme through internal calls for entries once or twice a year. This gives you the opportunity to showcase your work through group and individual projects even if you are not represented by a commercial gallery.

The opportunity to participate in the Studio's annual group/thematic exhibition and PATRON, the Christmas exhibition and art fair.

Studio rental at a discounted price: you can apply for the SYAA studios on Rottenbiller Street for a period of six months or one year, alone or with others.

Opportunities to participate in the Studio's residency programmes: thanks to our relations with international institutions, our members are invited to participate in several residency programmes each year, for which applications are invited through internal calls.

Membership card for discounts: show your membership card and get discounted admission to many cultural institutions' programmes.

The membership card can be collected after payment of the annual membership fee at the office of the Studio of Young Artists' Association (1077 Budapest, Rottenbiller utca 35.), which can be validated with a sticker each year.

Providing information on how to write an individual application, providing institutional background for applying and managing your applications: you can apply through the Association for funding that you need to carry out your own projects.

All members can get involved in the work of the Studio with their own projects (exchanges, festivals, etc.) or funding ideas.

Annual membership fee: 10 000 Ft. (which can be paid in two installments, but is mandatory for all members).

 

We need money to run the association. The rent of the Rottenbiller Street property, the overhead, other sudden expenses, the salaries of our two paid employees (financial associate, secretary) have to be paid from some source. The membership fee, although not covering all the costs, is a significant part of our annual budget.
